Hello and welcome to my blog. I am all about family and keeping the home fires burning! I enjoy a warm cup of tea, visiting with friends, reading, crafting, music, being in church and helping my husband and three young adult kids in life! Together we garden, raise chickens & rabbits and keep the pantry stocked!

One of my several favorite Bible verses is found in the Proverbs, “Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life.” ~Proverbs 4:23~

  1. I have a question from your old blog… I came across your canned Strawberry-Rhubarb pie filling. It says
“Stir 7 quarts of fruit (rhubarb cut into chunks & sliced
strawberries) into syrup and ladle into jars leaving 1 inch
    of headspace.”
So do I not need to cook some more before canning it? And how did it come out? Thanks!

    • Hello,
If I were to do this again, I would make less syrup or when putting it into the jars, I would make sure not to add lots of syup vs. the fruit. In my jars, the fruit ended up floating to about 1/2 the jar and I needed to use 2 jars and not all the juice to make pies or I strained the juice/syrup to use the fruit in breads etc. After adding the fruit to the syrup, bring to a boil then put in jars. The water bath will make sure the fruit is cooked. 🙂 I hope this answers your questions. Thank you so much for looking at my blog!! 🙂 Have a blessed day and good luck with your canning experiences!
